Vitamin C Skincare: Which Vitamin C Is Right for Your Skin?

If you’re looking for effective vitamin C skincare in Leeds, you may have noticed just how many different vitamin C products are now available. From high-street serums to professional formulations containing multiple active ingredients, the choice can feel overwhelming.

At Blackabey’s The Happy Skin Company, we’re seeing a growing interest in medical grade skincare and evidence-informed active ingredients. Rather than simply choosing a product because it contains a particular ingredient, we believe skincare should be selected according to your individual skin, concerns and treatment goals.

Why is vitamin C good for your skin?

Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that helps protect the skin from oxidative stress caused by environmental aggressors such as UV exposure and pollution. It can also help support a brighter, more even-looking complexion and improve the appearance of fine lines and other visible signs of skin ageing.

The important thing to understand is that not all vitamin C is the same. The concentration, form of vitamin C, stability and supporting ingredients can all influence how a product performs.

This is where professional skincare formulations can make such a difference.

AlumierMD EverActive C&E + Peptide

One of our favourites at Blackabey’s is EverActive C&E + Peptide by AlumierMD.

It contains 15% vitamin C, alongside vitamin E and MATRIXYL® Synthe’6® peptide. The formulation is designed to target visible signs of ageing, uneven skin tone and radiance, while the packaging technology helps maintain the stability of the vitamin C.

It is a particularly lovely option for someone looking for a sophisticated morning vitamin C serum that combines antioxidant protection with peptide technology.  You can read more about this in Women’s Health Magazine, who voted Alumier MD Everactive C&E Peptide one of the best vitamin C serums on the market, by clicking here.

Dermaceutic C25 Cream

Dermaceutic C25 Cream takes a different approach. It contains a 25% vitamin C complex, combined with vitamin A ester, 2% vitamin B5, vitamin E ester and polyphenols. Dermaceutic describes it as an antioxidant cream designed to help address dull and uneven complexions and visible signs of ageing.

This makes C25 an excellent option when your skincare goals include improving radiance while supporting the overall appearance of ageing skin.  At Blackabey’s, we love the Dermaceutic C25 cream for its multi antioxidant combination treatment and recommend its use often for significant long term sun damage.  It is also a fantastic transitional treatment following three months use of Tri Vita C30.

Dermaceutic Tri Vita C30

For a more intensive vitamin C approach, there is Dermaceutic Tri Vita C30.

It contains 30% vitamin C from three different forms: 15% L-ascorbic acid, 14.5% ascorbyl silanol and 0.5% ascorbyl ester. It also contains vitamin E and ferulic acid, creating a highly concentrated antioxidant formulation.

Unlike EverActive, which is designed as a morning serum, Dermaceutic recommends Tri Vita C30 for evening use, introducing it progressively into your routine. Due to its intensity, we often advice Tri Vita C30 to be used for a maximum of 3 months before following onto C25 cream.  It is not for use in those new to vitamin c use as high concentrations and would be advised only after a thorough consultation.

So, which vitamin C should you choose?

There isn’t one “best” vitamin C product for everyone.

EverActive C&E + Peptide is a fantastic choice for a daily morning antioxidant serum with vitamin E and peptides.  It is a fantastic option for those new to Vitamin C or have had issues in the past

C25 Cream offers a broader antioxidant cream formulation containing vitamin C, vitamin A ester, B5 and vitamin E.

Tri Vita C30 is the most concentrated of the three and combines three forms of vitamin C with vitamin E and ferulic acid for a more intensive approach.

This is exactly why professional skincare should be about more than simply choosing the highest percentage. The right product depends on your skin, your tolerance to active ingredients and what you are trying to achieve.

At Blackabey’s The Happy Skin Company, we take a bespoke approach to medical grade skincare, combining professional treatments with carefully selected homecare to help you achieve healthier, more radiant skin.

And remember: vitamin C is an addition to your skincare routine, not a replacement for sunscreen. Daily SPF 50 remains one of the most important steps in protecting your skin from UV-related damage.
