Skin Boosters

Skin Booster Treatments

Skin boosters are a term used in the aesthetic industry to cover a range of different treatments and products that help skin rejuvenation and essentially give your skin that much needed boost. They are often tailored to your needs and customised to your skin type. Overall, they are a very well tolerated treatment by all patients and are a fantastic way to introduce yourself to injectable treatments when you are new to aesthetics and a little scared about needles!

In your skin booster treatment, Dr Victoria will inject tiny amounts of skin boosters to the skin to target specific areas. These injections have similar ingredients to dermal fillers but are injected in much smaller amounts and are combined with essential amino acids and peptides to boost your skin health overall as well as addressing fine lines, wrinkles, skin texture, elasticity and scarring. Your face is numb during this procedure so do not worry and like microneedling it is a great introduction for beginners to injectable treatments. The effect from these boosters are shorter and will often need repeating every few weeks. However, if you have an event such as a wedding or a special birthday to go to this can be a great way to boost your skin without the side effects of other injectables.

At a Glance: Skin Boosters

  • Skin boosters are a skin injectable treatment that contains hyaluronic acid as well as other ingredients such as glycerol and amino acids to help hydrate the skin. They are very popular in winter due to the cold weather drying out the skin.

  • Skin boosters can be used all over the face, neck and décolleté.

  • Skin booster results are short lived and often used a few days prior to an important event to give a glow and boost the skin hydration. They often need repeating every few weeks.

  • The face or area to be treated in covered in local anaesthetic cream for atleast 30-45 minutes and then the treatment itself is atleast another 20-30 minutes depending on the area. If multiple areas are to be treated this will lengthen the treatment time accordingly.

  • The risks of treatment as discussed with Dr Victoria at your consultation and you will receive a 2 week cooling off period prior to your appointment for skin booster treatment to give you time to process the information and ask any questions you may have.

    The main risks include:

    pain

    bleeding

    infection

    allergic reaction

  • Dr Victoria will discuss this with you both at the face-to-face consultation and you will also be provided with aftercare forms after the procedure.

After the procedure you will notice small bumps where the skin booster has been injected. These settle after around 30-45 minutes.

We advice for 24 hours :

No ibuprofen/aspirin unless advised to do so by Dr Victoria

    No alcohol

No saunas/ steam rooms/ strenuous exercise

We also advise not to touch the face following treatment as this can introduce infection. We also advice a gentle cleanser the night following your treatment with normal routine to start the following day unless Dr Victoria comments otherwise at your treatment.

You will also be provided with emergency information after the procedure in case of an emergency.

Please note: treatments for a special event needing to be times appropriately due to downtime so please take this into account. We also advise no other treatments for 2 weeks after treatment with skin boosters.
